Friday Songs With Callie: Blowin' In The Wind

Kitties - I learned earlier this week (thanks, Spitty!) that Bob Dylan was recently given an award.  So of course, I decided to honor him by singing one of his songs - Blowin' In The Wind.  Is everyone ready to sing along?

How many beds must a cat lay on
Before they are rested?
How times must a cat demand treats
Before they get enough?
How many times must the cat train the hoomans
Before they’re finally smart?
The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

How many times can my paw swat Sassy
Before she starts to swat back?
How many tasty niptinis can Sassy drink
Before she gets really silly?
How many times will mean Mommie yell at me
Just for a little cabinet surfing?
The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind
The answer in blowin’ in the wind.

Remember to Sing Loud, Sing Long and Sing Often!

Tabby Tuesday With Sassy: Bravery

Kitties – sorry about the dark picture of me.  I am reporting in from Under The Bed.  Last night was a trying night for me.  First of all, we had fireworks going off.  Now, I started off the night being very brave.  I did not go UTB during the fireworks.  Sure, I flinched some, but I was a brave little kitty.  But then, about two hours after the horrible fireworks finally stopped – the thunder boomers started.  Lots of thunder, very loud!  It was about that time that I decided bravery was highly over rated!

This is Sassy out – reporting from UTB.

Monday Musings With Sassy: War

Kitties, today is Memorial Day.  This is when the humans honor other humans that have fought in wars.  This got me to thinking… could kitties have handled the human wars better.  Well, by not having them at all.  For instance:

Revolutionary War.  This human war was about some fat royal English guy (Sorry Eric and Flynn!) wanting to make the Americans do stuff.  The Americans got all hot and bothered about this and war broke out.  If this war had been handled by cats, when the fat guy tried to tell us what to do, we would have just ignored him, like we do all other humans!

Civil War.  This one is tough.  Obliviously, the slavery thing that the South had going on back then was wrong on every single level.  But on the other paw, we cats have had humans as our slaves since Egyptian times and this should never, ever change…….

World War I.  This human war started because of all of the alliances that had been made between countries.  When one country was attacked, other countries got involved, which caused other countries to join in and so on.  See this is where cats are clearly superior to humans.  We don’t do alliances.  It’s all about ME, ME, ME.  As it should be!

World War II.  Never, ever do a sequel.  Men In Black II – need I say anything else?

How would you have handled the wars?

Friday Songs With Callie: Goodbye

Kitties - wow, while the past couple of weeks have had some good things, Blogpaws Finalist Announcement and anything about my Sweet Ba-Boo, there has also been a lot of ouchies going on in the Cat Blogosphere.  I would like to dedicate this song to all of our newest Rainbow Bridge residents.  It is by Boyz 2 Men and is called "Its So Hard To Say Goodbye."  Although, this is a song about lost love, I did not change any of the words, I think they fit as is.

How do I say goodbye to what we had?
The good times that made us laugh
Outweigh the bad.

I thought we'd get to see forever
But forever's gone away
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

I don't know where this road
Is going to lead
All I know is where we've been
And what we've been through.

If we get to see tomorrow
I hope it's worth all the wait
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

Goodbye Smoochies to Pretty Parker, Elliot, Pixie, Captain Casper and all of the other loved ones!

I Need Some Fashion Advice Please

Kitties, I need some help picking out what furs I should wear to Truffle's Debutante Ball.  At least I think I am going....if a certain boy kitty would remember to ask me (hint, hint - Kozmo are you reading this?).

I am having trouble deciding if I should wear my fancy white furs with brown and rust spots or my dress white furs with rust and brown spots.  Which do you think?

Happy Birthday ML!

To a new blogger, the work that ML does is invaluable.  When I first started blogging, I just automatically started using Mr. Linky on Cat Blogosphere to announce my postings.  To tell the truth, I did not really credit doing this with much of my blog traffic.....until about a month ago when the link up was down for a week.  Suddenly, I saw my traffic NOSEDIVE!  Thank you for all you do.

But I really, really need another treat!

Monday Musings With Sassy: History Rewritten

Kitties, a certain Mommie around here has been running around bragging about “her” blog being a finalist.  Umm, excuse me, but when did it become “her” blog?  This is MY blog – and okay, sometimes the Spotted Airhead’s blog.  This got me to thinking…if the human is rewriting history on this, what else in history have the humans changed?  As it turns out – plenty!  For example:

D-Day   The British humans like to brag about how they made the first landing for this battle.  Not true.  First landing was actual the ship cat.  It seems that in the rush of boarding the troops, someone forgot to bring along the ship cat’s litter box.  When the cat saw all of that lovely sand on the beach, it didn’t hesitate.  The cat was first to land (and squat) on the beach.
Haight Ashbury Hippy Protests   Humans like to claim they went to the Haight Ashbury area of San Francisco in the 60’s to protest the war and celebrate rock-n-roll.  Not true.  Really the main attraction to Haight Ashbury was some really cool cats that lived in the area.  The humans flocked there in order to have the honor of petting these kitties.  But of course, humans being humans, they won’t admit that was why they were going.  They thought that “protesting” the war sounded more important.
Dogs Win Iditarod Races   Humans race with their teams of dogs across Alaska.  Okay, actually, this one is true.  Hey, Stupid Dogs, while you are running around outside in freezing temps, fighting off wolves and hauling heavy sleds – you know what we Cats are doing?  We are sitting on our heated blankets, eating salmon cakes and watching Animal Planet!  Suckers!
Do you know of any other history the humans have wrong?

Woo Hoo - I Am A Finalist!

(Callie and Sassy's  Mommie Here)

The Blogpaws Nose To Nose Awards Finalists have been announced and I am honored to say that this blog is a finalist for the "Best New Blog" category!

I am probably not going to the Conference as there is the usual Little Supply minus Big Demand green papers math problem going on here. (huh, maybe Daddy was right, I shouldn't have day dreamed my way thru math class!)  But I am looking forward to watching the awards on live stream.

I am just bursting with pride right now.

Friday Songs With Callie: Barracuda!

Kitties - today's song is Barracuda! by Heart.  Except of course I am not a Barracuda - they are ugly with serious dental problems.  I am a CALLA-CUDA!

So this ain’t the end –
I pounced on you again today
You don’t know how to play
So I snuck up from behind –
a bitey on your tail
And bam – it never fails!

Your hiding behind the hammick
But I gonna ambush you
I’ll hit you like a ton of bricks
I’m the Calla-cuda!
Aww, Calla-cuda!

Kitties,  Sorry that I have not been posting and commenting as often as usual.  Mommie says that she has been dealing with "Real Life".  As if anything is more important than MY Needs...Really!!

I saw on Nellie's and Kozmo's Blog (sometimes I like to just go over there and look at the pictures of my Sweet Ba-Boo) that Sarge is having a Nickname event.  For this event we should list all of the nicknames all humans call us (and believe me, Mommie comes up with some doozies) and let the readers select their favorites thru the comments.  So here it goes:

Callie:  Of course everyone knows my main nickname, "Trouble", but here are some lesser known ones:

Calla Wow-Wow (in the way of J-Wow on Jersey Shore)
Sweet Pea (thanks to my handsome and brave boyfriend, Kozmo)

On Sassy, my favorite nickname is of course "Lard Butt", but Mommie says I have to play nice (BORING!), so here are her "other" nicknames:

Sassy Maria
Sassy Girl
Sweet Sassy

Which ones are your favorites?

Trouble's Tall Tales: Trouble Goes Antique Shopping

Kitties, recently I have been spending time in the Real Housecats house and have come to realize the whole yard sale look Mommie has going on in her house just does not work for me.  I need to upgrade my crib.  So I decided to go antique shopping in Dallas.

The first store I went to specialized in French Antiques.  I found a very nice Louis XVI bed.  I was interested in it until the guy working there started telling me about what happened in Louis XVI in real life.  He got his head chopped off!  Man, talk about your bad ju-ju!  I just could not buy it – I mean I need my head, how would I wear my bling-bling collar without a head?  Time to move on to the next store.

Next I went to a store that specialized in Southwest furniture.  I didn’t stay there long.  Most of their furniture was made with cowhide and that just made me so hungry.

My final store was a store that carried furniture made by the Amish.  I liked the clean and simple lines of this style, but then I discovered that these people believe in simple living.  If I got some of this furniture, would I have to give up my luxuries like ‘Nip, Silvervine and my heated bed?  No thanks!

My shopping trip was not successful.

I think that if MTV Cribs calls, I’ll just be “unavailable”!

Update on Hollywood Criminals

Kitties, Sassy here.  I have an update on Nellie’s and my legal situation in Hollywood.  As you will remember, we were arrested after Nellie went Ninja cat on a cop.

Luckily, Catman, a.k.a. King Spitty was able to break us out.  After sunning herself out by the pool, and having a few Nipitinis to calm down, Nellie went to visit her friend Cody.  I stayed out by the pool.  Soon a nice older mancat came up and asked why I looked so upset.  When I told him about what happened and about my fear of being re-arrested, he laughed and said not to worry, he could take care of it with one swipe of his paw.
Well, I heard from him today and it is all taken care of!  As it turns out, his human was the Director of Information Services for LA Correctional System.  All he had to do was wait until his human left the computer on and presto! all records of our arrest have been wiped.
BTW, when I talked to him last night he mentioned that the policeman Nellie went Ninja on is not doing well.  It seems that he has been put on administrative leave.  He has been seen running up and down the hallways meowing at the top of his voice.  He has told people he has a sister with curly fur and asked people to start calling him Yahama, Honda or some motorcycle name……
Nellie – I think you played too hard with the policeman and broke him.

Monday Musings With Sassy: Hollywood Cats

Kitties, Sassy here.  We are back from Hollywood.  We went there for the premiere of House Cats 2, but the premiere was delayed.  Or maybe The Spotted Airhead got the date wrong.  With her, who knows?
So anyway on to my Monday’s Musing.  While in Hollywood I noticed something.  Very few movies star cats.  Why is that – cats always improve a story!  Here are just a few examples to prove this statement:
Gone with The Wind – After Rhett says “Frankly, Scarlett my dear, I don’t give a d*mn, and goes to walk out the door, a cat streaks across the doorway tripping him.  He falls, gets amnesia, forgets he doesn’t love Scarlett anymore and they live happily ever after.
Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back – When Darth Vader said “Luke, I am your Father”, just think how different the show would have been if a cat had played this part.  Then the line would have been “Luke, I am your Cat.”  All Luke would have had to do would be slip Darth Vader a little Silvervine.  An  intergalactic fight and several bad sequels would have been avoided. Most important – there would have been no Jar-Jar.
Wizard of Oz – This show starred some wimpy little dog.  If they had used a cat instead, it wouldn’t have not just given the wicked witch a puny bite on the leg, it would have scratched her eyes out.  Then Dorothy would have been in the storm cellar when the storm hit, so not visit to Oz.

(P.S. In case you are wondering why so many of the pictures have The spotted Airhead in them instead of me, that is because she actually wants to be a star.  Since being a movie star would involve having to be around people, I have no desire to be a star!)

Do you know of any other movies that would have been improved with a cat added?

Cinco de Mayo: The Day After

Kitties,  Sassy here.  Mommie was out of town on Cinco de Mayo, so Callie talked me into having a "small" party.  Mommie is due back this morning and looking at the house today, I am a little worried.   Do you thnk she will believe Callie's story that there was a rare earthquake in Texas and that our house was used as a shelter?

Friday Songs With Callie: Another One Bites The Dust

Kitties, if you have been following Kozmo's blog, you know that we have been busy hunting down a desperate tiara thief!  Our hunt was successful, so naturally I wanted commemorate the occasion with a song.  Today's song is "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen (the band, not Nellie).  Are you ready to sing along?

Kozmo and Callie walk down the street,
Looking for a tiara thief
And maybe some yummy sushi to eat
Aunt Betty gonna have grief

Are you ready,
Are you ready for this
Are you hanging on to your hammick now
Out of the doorway the meows sound
Kozmo and Callie take a bow

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, we’re gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust

Remember to Sing Loud, Sing Long and Sing Often!!
