Annual Trip To The Vet

Kitties -

Callie here.  Yesterday Sassy and I had to go to the V.E.T. for our annual shots.  Being very intelligent cats, we of course worked the guilt angle as much as possible.  Late last night, after intense negotiations, got Mommie to agree to the following concessions in return for our forgiveness for her torture.

Sassy will be getting two catnip plants placed in the garden with a minimum of three sprigs hand delivered to her per week for the next two months.

Later this summer (I want to lose a few ounces before seeing my Boo again), I will get to take an overnight (chaperoned by Jo-Jo of course!) tunnel trip to my Sweet Ba-Boo, Kozmo, to include a minimum of one mouse hunt, one romantic star gazing date and a drive in the country. Date of this get together to be selected by Kozmo.  I hope Jo-Jo isn't very good at chaperoning!

Guilty is a wonderful thing isn't it?  What is the best guilt gift you have gotten from your Mommie or Daddy?

Thanks and an Update

Hello kitties!

The Mommie Brenda here.  Well,  I got a pretty good report back from the cardiologist and so I am going to try this blogging thing again.  At first, I may not post as often or be as good about replying as I should, while I return to 100%, but I miss everyone and am eager to get back to it.

While I was recovering, I did follow and keep up with everyone.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Carolyn (Austin's Mom) and Barb (Kozmo's Mom) for their work on the Valentine's Day Dance.  They were nice enough to do all of the graphics so that Callie and Sassy could attend with their beaus.

Today, Sassy is floating in a cloud of 'nip happiness.  In the mail was a package from her crush - Austin.

Knowing his Sassy, Austin sent her some catnip toys which she loved.  But the thing he sent that she loved best was his picture!  Here she is kissing it!

The only problem was when Callie saw the picture, she thought Sassy was sneaking around with her Kozmo.  If you will pardon the pun, a real CATFIGHT enused!  I tell you, Sassy may be considered a senior cat, but she got game!

Sassy says - thank you dear sweet Austin!

A Post From Mom Brenda

Kitties – This is Mom Brenda here.  Callie and Sassy agreed to let me borrow their blog today.  I wanted to post today about something important that has happened to me lately in the hope that by posting this, other people can learn from my mistake.

Recently, I have not blogged much because I have not been feeling well.  It was not anything specific, just minor things here and there over the last 3-4 months.  I was tired all of the time, but then again, I was not exercising much so that explained that.  Then I started having heart palpitations, but my thyroid medicine had just been changed so that made sense.  I was sweating   A LOT, but then again I live in Texas so what?

A few weeks ago, I started having problems breathing.  I have had pneumonia a few times before in my life, so I figured, “great – this again?”  I got worse two weeks ago and went to the doctors.  They took xrays and sure enough, I had pneumonia.  I took the medicine for four days, but it just did not seem to be working……

I went back to the clinic to see if they thought the antibiotic should be changed.  They listened to my chest, and told me I needed to go to the hospital.  I reluctantly said that I guess I would drive over there later.  They informed me that no, I was going by ambulance.

Turns out that my “pneumonia” was a minor heart attack.  I was in the hospital for almost a week. When I look at all of my symptoms put together, I had all of the classic ones.  But because I am only 51, and never had that moment you see on TV where the person grabs on to their chest and flops on the floor, heart problems just never occurred to me.  Please learn from my mistakes, it is not about age or what your current symptom is or what you saw on TV - it is about listening to your body and not making excuses!  Some of the symptoms for heart attack are heart palpitations, feeling tired all of the time, shoulder or/and arm aches (especially in women), trouble breathing which can lead to sweating and chest pain.  This is by no means a complete list, but see here is the thing,  I had every single one of these symptoms, but because I never put them together, a heart attack was the last thing I expected.   I will repeat once again because it is worth repeating:

Listen to what your body is telling you!!

Kitties - Callie and Sassy here.  For once we are working together!  We got to talking last night (in between fights) and decided that maybe since we have not been posting much, our boycat friends might be feeling neglected.  So, this post is for them.

Kitties - I'MMMMM BBBBAAAACCCCCKKKK!!!!!

We have not been posting lately because Mommy has been feeling bad, sickie, ill, MEAN!  But recently we were contacted by the good people at The Natural Pet Company wanting to know if we would like review some of their products, including their 100% All Natural Catnip

A chance to get free 'nip??? Yeah, we could not get Mommy to type the word yes fast enough!!

Callie:  I love this stuff!  Would calling it heaven in a bag be too over the top?  I enjoyed this stuff so much, I decided to do a song about it, even though it is not Friday.  This song was originally sung by The Black Eye Peas called "My Humps" (written by will.i.am.). But who cares about a silly ol' human song?  My song is called "My 'Nip!"

What you gon' do with all that ‘nip?
All that ‘nip inside that bag?
I'ma get, get, get, get, that ‘nip,
Get me some Natural Pet ‘nip.
My ‘nip, my ‘nip, my ’nip,
my ‘nip, my ‘nip,
My ‘nip, my ‘nip, my ‘nip,
my lovely bag of ‘nip (Check it out)

I drive sisfur Sassy crazy,
I do it on the daily,
She treat me really mean………..
Sassy:  Okay, I am going to stop this and give my review before everyone's ears start bleeding.  My review is a little mixed.  While I LOVED this stuff, I do have to consider that it resulted in me having to listen to the Spotted Airhead sing and it is not even Friday.....on the other paw....it was some really great chit...oh, well, you know what they say, if you have had some really good nip, you might as well join them!
